What is God’s Hebrew Name? By Tsivya Fox - BREAKING ISRAEL NEWS

What is God’s Hebrew Name?

“Moshe said unto God: ‘Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them: The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me: What is His name? what shall I say unto them?’ And God said unto Moshe: ‘I AM THAT I AM’.” Exodus 3:13-14 (The Israel Bible™)
In the first verse of the Bible, God is referred to as Eloheem (אֱלֹהִים). Yet in Genesis 12:7, God introduces himself to Abraham as יְהוָה (we do not know how to pronounce this name, which is described as the “Ineffable Name”). And, just a bit later, in Genesis 17:1, God reintroduces Himself to Abraham as El Shadai (אֵל שַׁדַּי). What do all of God’s names in the Bible teach us about Him?
“God’s essence is eternal and unchanging. However, in order for man to gain a clearer understanding of his relationship to God, He changes His name,” explained Roni Segal, the academic adviser for eTeacher, an online language academy, to Breaking Israel News.
The importance of names is established early on in the Bible. In Genesis, after God creates “every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air”, the animals are brought to the first man, Adam, to be named. Adam calls each animal by its essence.
From here, we understand that, in Jewish thought, a Hebrew name is not an arbitrary designation but rather more of a definition. In fact, the Talmud states that, in today’s world, the only prophecy left is when a parent names a child. Naming a child is considered one-sixtieth of prophecy and called Ruach HaKodesh (רוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ). Ruach HaKodesh comes to parents in the form of an angel who whispers into their ears what Hebrew name to give.
Therefore, our first Biblical introduction to God is as Eloheem (אֱלֹהִים). This is actually a plural word, yet we know that God is only one. Eloheem encompases the idea that God contains all powers and essences of the world, especially as The Creator, The Mightiest, The Ruler and The True Judge.

God’s Ineffable Name (Yud-Hay-Vav-Hay) reflects that His existence is eternal. Contained in these four Hebrew letters is the idea of past (הָיָה- hah-ya), present (הֹוֶה- hoh-veh) and future (יִהְיֶה- yih-hee-yeh). This name also is used when discussing God’s relationship with man through His qualities of loving kindness and mercy.

El Shaddai usually translates as “God Almighty”. “Dai” in Hebrew means enough or sufficient. As God’s strength is endlessly mighty, when creating the world, in essence, His creation would have gone on forever had He not said, “Dai”.
El Shaddai is the name of God which is written on the outside of mezuzah scrolls placed on the doorposts of Jewish homes. The letters shin dalet yud (שדי) stand for the acronym, “Shomer Daltot Yisrael” which means, “Guardian of the doors of Israel”.
God Himself chooses a unique name for Moses to introduce Him to the Jewish people in ancient Egypt. In Exodus 3:13, Moses asks God what He should be called. God answers, “I AM THAT I AM”, implying that He is eternal and not really knowable except through His creations and deeds, as seen through His various names.
Learning Biblical Hebrew can transform the way one reads and understands the Bible,” noted Segal. “Hebrew is God’s holy language. Shouldn’t we know the names of its creator?
“Although all Bible study is a blessing, the importance of studying it in Hebrew cannot be stressed enough,” she explained. “The sacred Hebrew language contains many levels of understanding which gets lost in translation.”

"God of the Impossible in 2016" Robert Hotchkin - The Elijah List

He is "El Shaddai" – God Almighty, God All Sufficient, God All We Need
Here we are on the threshold of 2016, and I want you to know that the Lord is setting us up for some incredible breakthroughs, increases, and transformations.
A couple months ago when I began to pray into the New Year, I heard the Lord say that He wanted to re-introduce Himself to His people as "El Shaddai." I knew that this was one of His names, and that it could be translated as "God Almighty" or "The All-Sufficient One"; but after hearing from the Lord, I was intrigued and I wanted to dig deeper. Why did He want to re-acquaint us with Himself as El Shaddai? What was He up to? What does this mean for the new season we're entering?
When I did a word study on "El Shaddai," I discovered that there were many times when the Lord announced to His people that He was "God" or that He was "All Mighty," but there were only a few times when He declared that He was "El Shaddai – God Almighty, the All Sufficient One!" What was most intriguing to me was that the handful of times that He did this, profound things happened: Seemingly impossible things that had been severely hindered, delayed, or even abandoned, suddenly were renewed, revived, and released.
The first mention of "El Shaddai" in the Bible is in Genesis 17:1, when the Lord appears to Abram to remind Him of the promise He has made to give him an heir and a line of descendants who will inherit all God has blessed him with. What's really interesting is the context in which this happens. (Photo via Pixabay)
This promise of the Lord goes back to Genesis 15 when He first told Abram He would give him a son (15:4). Abram heard the word of the Lord and believed (15:6). This was a big step of faith for Abram as he and his wife, Sarai, had not been able to conceive up to that point. God told Abram that this was a "covenant" deal (15:18) – affirming that no matter how difficult or improbable, Abram could count on the promise because he could count on God. Amen!
But as time passed and God did not move according to the schedule Abram and Sarai were expecting, doubt and impatience began to creep in. Can anyone relate?
In Genesis 16, Sarai and Abram decide to hatch their own scheme to bring forth the promise of God (16:1-3). Never a good idea. What results is years of headaches, heartaches, and hassles in their household, their lives, and beyond (see Genesis 16:4 – Genesis 17:1). Abram's and Sarai's scheming took a situation that was difficult and improbable and turned it into a complete mess that was seemingly impossible. This is the context in which God shows up and declares that He is "El Shaddai" – God Almighty, God All Sufficient, God All We Need. In other words – God of the Impossible!
The end result of this announcement is that the promise of God is back on track, and Abram is forever changed. He goes from being "Abram, Exalted Father" to "Abraham, Father of Multitudes." Do you see it? When God announces that He is El Shaddai, increase and transformation break forth!Messes become messages. Tests become testimonies. The impossible becomes possible. This is who El Shaddai is. This is what El Shaddai does. He is not limited by the past, by our mistakes, or by our insufficiencies, and He wants us to know that when we walk with Him, neither are we!

The Lord Did Not Show Up to Chastise, But to Invite
The Lord did not show up in Genesis 17 to punish Abram, to chastise him, or to announce that his blunders had disqualified him from the promise of God. No! He showed up to declare that He was "El Shaddai," and to invite Abram to walk with Him.
In the realization that He is God Almighty, God All Sufficient, God All We Need (17:1), He showed up to declare to Abram that He was God of the Impossible, and that He was well able to deal with the situation as it was (17:2). He showed up to invite Abram to rest in Him, trust in Him, and to rely completely, utterly, and totally upon Him (17:4). Abram got the revelation of El Shaddai (17:3). He let go of trying to bring about the promises of God in his own strength and by his own means. He let go of the "flesh" and grabbed hold of God afresh (Genesis 17:11-12) – and he was increased and transformed because of it!
Do you have a mess in your life? Are there promises of God that seem like they are just never going to happen? Do you sometimes fear that your inadequacies or mistakes have disqualified you? Are you wanting to give up? Don't! (Photo via Freeimages)
We are entering an hour when God desires to reveal Himself to you as "El Shaddai" – God Almighty. God All Sufficient, God All You Need – God of the Impossible! He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He is the Lord, and He does not change (Malachi 3:6).
What He did for Abram, He can do for you. Begin to welcome and worship Him as El Shaddai, and watch as He shows up and does the impossible for you!
Prayer Directives
Let's pray and declare that:
1. Jesus Christ is El Shaddai – God Almighty, God All Sufficient, God All We Need!
2. What is impossible with man is possible with God (Luke 18:27).
3. The Lord will show up in notable and remarkable ways for His people in this new year, bringing breakthrough, increase, and transformation. Messes will become messages, and tests will become testimonies!
4. A new level of faith will be released to the Church. We will not be moved by what we do or don't see, or what we do or don't feel. We will stand firm on the promises of God, knowing that He is well able to bring them about in His perfect timing!
5. We will trust in the Lord, and rest in His goodness and glory!
6. We will not fear, but only believe! (Mark 5:36)

A Sound from Heaven - Like a Mighty Rushing Wind by Elaine Tavolacci

A Sound from Heaven - Like a Mighty Rushing Wind by Elaine Tavolacci

Identity Network
In the book of Acts chapter two we read about the day of Pentecost when the disciples were in the Upper Room in one accord, and suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance. They were so intoxicated with the glory of God that some of the onlookers thought that they were drunk with wine. Peter went on to say, these men are not drunk as you suppose, and he quoted the prophecy from Joel 2:28-32. This prophecy has been fulfilled.

In the book of Acts chapter four when they were being threatened, they prayed, and asked the Lord for boldness, to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Jesus. The building then literally shook and they were filled with the Holy Spirit.

The Lord says the winds are stirring once again, and I am releasing a mighty wind of My glory to transform lives "suddenly."  Multitudes will be brought into the kingdom for such a time as this. Many will be healed, captives will be delivered and set free, and many will be brought into repentance. Just as the plates are shifting under the seas causing earthquakes of great magnitudes, there is a shift happening simultaneously in the heavenlies. I am stirring the atmosphere to bring change to the church as you know it. Angelic activity is being released from the third heaven that no man can stop or reverse. Do not judge things by what you see happening in the natural, but watch what I am about to do. I Am El Shaddai and I am sending a tsunami of My glory.

I Am Sending My Glory

Just as the winds are blowing in the natural, I am about to send a mighty rushing wind across this country and around the world. Just as the winds came "suddenly" in the upper room, I am sending My Glory to revamp things in the natural. What I intended for in these last days shall be accomplished. You shall see a great acceleration in the lives of my people. I will bring times of refreshing in times of drought. I will bring light to areas where darkness seems to prevail. I am sending the latter and the former rains. Do not become fearful when you see the dark clouds but rejoice. It is the dark clouds that carry the heavy rain. This is where My glory dwells and My Anointing will be released. As I said in My word, the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea; says the Lord.

Habakkuk 2:14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

Acts 2:1-4 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 4:29-31 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus." And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
